Antalya, is a city on the Mediterranean coast of southwestern Turkey. It is Turkey's biggest international sea resort, located on the Turkish Riviera.
In 2013, Antalya became the third most visited city in the world by number of international arrivals, ranking behind Paris and London, respectively. Antalya previously ranked third in the world in 2011 and 2012 and fourth in 2010 with over 10.5 million visitors in 2011.
Antalya has been settled since pre-historic times. Evidence of human habitation dating back to the early Paleolithic age (150,000-200,000) years has been discovered in the Karain caves, 30 km (19 mi) of the north of Antalya city.
Tucked into Turkey’s southwest corner is Antalya. Known as the Turkish Riviera, this cosmopolitan region has a 400-mile sweep of white-sand beaches and secluded coves, and is home to upmarket resorts like Lara Beach and Belek.
